Problem with windows XP

I have windows xp Service pack2 (2002)
and evrey time whene i click the refresh buton the computer stop respondig
until i restart it
please if any one can help me i appreciat it!

first time i hear this kind of problem... try asking the custumer service of microsoft first if not you could try this: if you have a pentium or dual core try intall service pack 3 and see if the problem goes away ( if you have AMD DO NOT install service pack 3 at all, it will make your pc to never start again), hope it can elp you in some way

what is windows refresh button? what is the refresh "ability" of an operating system to begin with? ... update service? filesystem journal regeneration? context reloading?

i think he means the button on the menu of the right click of the mouse when you are over the desktop... if not i have no clue

i've had plenty of amd's that had service pack 3 on them and they ran just fine.

I guess theres some problem with the rundll.exe but not sure about the solution cause this is my first time hearing this

Ah, sounds the execution command and service command prompts are missing there. I seen it happen before, usually you need to just get a new service pack...or get the next update and that should fix it most of the time. Several methods of fixing it, though.

Oh windows, you never cease to amaze me. I can't believe something like refreshing the desktop would cause a restart or lock up. A quick reinstall is most likely the easiest way to fix it.

if you had any clue what you re talking about you should rather be amazed that windows normaly IS ably to refresh the desktop content (without trashing tons of cpu time).
