Knowing what country you live in would be helpful (I will assume for a moment you live in the US)

It depends on what you plan on doing on the thing.

I personally am not fond of gaming laptops (poor battery life while playing games makes them basically a mobile desktop) but if you want one of those I recommend [Only registered users can see links. ] one. There used to be a better Gateway one at bestbuy, but they appear to be out of stock of it. For a gaming laptop that is probably going to be the best deal you can get. [Only registered users can see links. ] is another option. It is more expensive and it is most definitely a portable desktop (screen size is huge and battery life, while not as bad as it could be, is lackluster and there is a some crap to clean up along with it being 64-bit). A middle ground between the two is [Only registered users can see links. ] one, though be prepared to remove lots of crap off of it also it is 64-bit and gets very hot (like all HP laptops).

Now if you want a laptop that is nice and small with a decent battery life while maintaining a large HDD I recommend [Only registered users can see links. ] one.

If you live out of the States (I am uncertain whether or not Canada can order from Newegg) Just give me a minute to bother my Euro-friend (and then it may take him a while for him to get back to me, he is quite lazy).

Ok, Newegg does have a Canadian site (unfortunately prices are higher and selection isn't as great as the US counterpart, sorry)

Awww, well [Only registered users can see links. ] is what I would normally recommend, but it is out of your price range.

<removed, misread GPU, thought it was a 9600>

[Only registered users can see links. ] is your budget gamer with a decent CPU to boot. It will play most of what you throw at it. (also a good all around laptop that will do what you want it to) <-This is the one I think I will recommend.

[Only registered users can see links. ] is another option. A little cheaper but will still play games very well (price drop due to CPU)

I can check out the Canadian version of TigerDirect, but in general their prices are higher. Also no 320 GB HDDs in your price range.

It looks like around $200 or so more than the US equivalent laptop.

I am unfamiliar with Canadian electronics stores (but I know that Newegg is pretty good, never let me down yet) so I am a little weary about recommending this (as I am uncertain how good they are) but [Only registered users can see links. ] is an impressive media laptop I just found on another store. Like I said, I don't do Canadian shopping so I am uncertain how good directcanada is (found it by mistake when comparing prices between Newegg canada and TigerDirect canada) However you probably won't want to be gaming on that (unless there is a big difference between the 8400 GS and the mobile 8400 GS that I am unaware of).
