i could live with 128kops, for the close future ( of like a year or two ), if only i had also 128kops upload. It sucks hard to have your DNS requests go loss just because some buffer is overfilled with the data you need to transmit in order to keep requesting data from silly 30 ( there s not a missing zero ) bt clients.
that company the routing hardware is belong of, "of cause", isn t doing any kind of traffic priority shaping or things like that, probably because their hardware isn t programmable, but on the same time they are checking that you don t use modems they don t want you to use ( after all you re not being shaped, so if you had a modem that transmits 1Mops half the towns traffic would go loss because you re taking all the bandwidth ( that might sound like an idea a noob with no clue about how networking works would come up with - but in fact that has already happened alot of times, especially last year ) )
yesterday - or rather today - i was keeping awake until nearly 4 o clock in the morning doing useless things like playing touhou 1 or hanging in the spam section ( which is bad because it causes upload ) while uploading mahou sensei negima shiroki tsubasa ala alba ... but as you can see i didn t finish because my internet provider decided to rotate ip-addresses after 6 hours of me uploading ...
( i don t know whether they are dc-ing me to rotate ip-addresses but that s the only thing that makes sense to dc people multiple times each day - as usual people from their hotlines have no clue at all and aren t even able to find out when you got dc-ed )
*wants to kick his internet provider*

because people who work at the better-payed half ( industry ) of the jobs over here don t need to seriously care about 79 euro/month, and since nonflatrate dialup internet was more expensive before noone protested when they started charging 79eu/month about 6 or so years ago ( it was 6 years ago that flatrates became availible where i live, they had been around elsewhere in this country - especially in the bigger cities - for much longer ).
That, and because the dominant internet provider doesn t need to bother if you run to a competitor, because if you do that, the competitor will have to pay them for using their network instead.

Such limited rights... I'd move. Become an illegal immigrant. Or something.
the good thing about the european union is that i don t become an illegal immigrant if i move somewhere else ( inside the eu ). AFAIK all countries but spain in the western and all but poland and hungary in the eastern part of the EU have at least twice as much bandwidth for private networks, but then even if its poland or spain/hungary i ll pay only like 20 euros instead ( probably 20 euros are more in hungary or poland then here but it should be less then factor 4 ) of 80 for the same down bandwidth and the upload is >100kops, too.
moving away is what alot of midscale companies have been doing the last decade ( the large ones too but they move to eastern asia ( esp. the democratic chinese republic and indonesia but recently the trend starts to move to the peoples republic of china instead ) while the mid ones keep inside the eu ), but the propaganda is successfully holding up an image of them running to countries with low wages ( such as ... france //@.@// )
