I was wondering if anyone read Jiraishin? I think it's a really good manga by the same guy who did Blue Heaven. There's a lot of suspense and psychological stuff in the manga like humna behaviour and human nature but the selling point of the manga, I believe, is te protagonist.

He's a cop with a real bad ass attitude. He's supposed to be the best there is and he's a loner who says stuff like "You can kill the hostage, I don't care. But the moment you do, I'll kill you." and I think it's a real change of pace compared to manga where the guy is all like "don't kill anyone plox..".

The universe is dark and in fact, the drawings themselves may appear crude but it all reinforces the impression that the manga is happening in a dark corner of the world. I higly recommend it to anyone who likes this kind of manga.

I loved Jiraishin, Ida is the perfect protagonist for the dark, overcast mood - A true antihero in his element. The manga is character driven, with personalities and behaviors being the focal point of the suspense.

The tone of the series is set immediately with the artwork, with dark shading and encroaching shadows surrounding light sources.

If you like dark, relentless yet mysterious settings with no "Safe zones" for the protagonists to recover in, Jiraishin may be for you.
