[Summary] Nurarihyon no Mago

Nurarihyon no Mago (ぬらりひょんの孫, Nurarihyon no Mago)/Grandchild of Nurarihyon is a manga series by Shiibashi Hiroshi (椎橋寛, [Only registered users can see links. ]).

The manga story is centered on Rikuo Nura, a kid that is 3/4 human and 1/4 Youkai. He lives in a house full of Youkai (spirits, ghost, call it whatever you like) alongside his grandfather who is the leader of the youkai. Rikuo is destined to take over his grandfather leadership but his human side has no interest. Rikuo is just a normal kid who has no interest to become the leader of youkai. As the story evolve, he will deal with his Youkai side, enemies that want to ruin his clans, and to hide his true identity from his own friend.

Characters

Rikuo Nura
In his day form, Rikuo is a seemingly timid and average 13-year old protagonist. He inherited 1/4 of his grandfather's youkai blood. In times of impending danger his youkai blood awakens and he switches into his night form to become the Master of the Youkai(The master of all spirits/Supreme commander of Youkai). He is destined to take over as The Third (Master of Youkai) from the grandfather. Rikuo once embraced the idea, but after realizing the evil nature of the youkais' deeds, he now rejects the idea of becoming their master. He attempts to become more like a normal human by doing all sorts of good deeds, but he still appreciates his youkai underlings (most of the time).
The Nurarihyon
He is Rikuo's grandfather, and constantly tries to convince Rikuo to become the next successor of the youkai clan. He enjoys sneaking into other people's houses to eat-and-run.
Kana Ienaga
Childhood friend and neighbor of Rikuo. She is hinted to have some affection for him, since she got jealous when she saw Yuki Onna/Tsurara alone together. Rikuo made a promise to help her if she is ever in need. In recent chapters, She has been putting together some of the weird traits and occurrences around Rikuo. She once again meet Rikou in his youkai form in the last chapter after she discovered his glasses on the ground. In the latest chapter, she is being kidnapped by a demon on her 13th birthday. And once again Kana was saved by Rikuo in his youkai form, after she was saved she was taken to a resteruant owned by youkai. In the next morning Kana asked Rikuo if he was friends with his youkai form and blushed when Rikuo asked why. Which implies that Kana has fallen for Rikou's youkai form.
Yura Keikain
A young Onmyoji who came to Ukiyoe Town seeking the Master of the Youkai(Rikuo). She has met Rikuo's grandfather, but has not realized that he's the Nurarihyon.
Yuki Onna/Tsurara Oikawa
Rikuo's attendant who follows him to school disguised as a normal school girl.

Karasu Tengu(literally 'crow tengu')
One of the Nura's key servants. His sons are collectively known as the Sanba Karasu.
Aotabou
An intimidating youkai. At one point, he also followed Rikuo to school with Yuki Onna. He has become the leader of a local yakuza group.
Kurotabou
Somewhat of a rival of Aotabou, but still plays a part in Rikuo's following.
Gyuuki
The kanji for his name means 'bull.' According to legend, he was once a human who died searching for his mother. His resentment led him to become a youkai after his death. He is a high-ranked subordinate of the Nura group. He is was in charge of a conspiracy against Rikuo. It was revealed this coup was a means of a test, to see if Rikuo could handle being what he was and told Rikuo to abandon his human side as that would only get him killed.
Zen
Zen is a bird youkai and the leader of the zen sect. The zen specialize in poisons. Rikuo used to play with him when he was young,and Zen is one of the few leaders that supports Rikuo and wants him to become the Third. He is currently homeless because his home was burned down by his unloyal servants.

This manga story is interesting. U should try to read it if u in for Youkai or Supernatural genre.

So far I've read 22 chapters as released by the manga fansubs through one manga and I'd say this seems to be a interesting yet promising manga to read...hope this turns out better

just a note about the local yakuza group:

isn't it just a local yankee/gang/biker group? yakuza is an organized group (syndicate even) that is usually armed with lethal weapons and usually has dealings of drugs, etc.

i like this series this a 1st time reading an ghost or youkai manga well its interesting but scanlation kind of blurry. well nvm hope the gonna be volume for this one cause i love Hq release well i thank the scanlation team for only one releasing this one lolz

What I especially like about this manga is that it is keeping with the initial episodic nature that most big-name mangas start with, rather than ditching it at the slightest sign of a coherent storyline, but at the same time keeps in the readers' minds every few chapters that something is happenening behing the scenes.

This is one of the better manga that I came across, although to be truthful well I liked Rikuo's reluctance to become the new master since it was a little amusing in the beginning I began to get a little annoyed with it as it dragged on. Well that was then, and I happy to say that the story is slowly winning me back.

I'm fairly certain that they will probably animate this in the future as they start to run out of things to animate. This is my opinion as we can see a lot of anime bein created that r based off of mangas/visual novel games......
