Synopsis: Aoi House is an Original English Language Manga (OEL) written by Adam Arnold and art by Shiei. 4 volumes in total. The series is considered an harem, comedy and otaku manga.
Summary: Alex and Sandy are two college students who get evicted from the dorms due to several incidents, such as showing hentai anime at the dorms, drinking (though it was ramune) and because of Sandy's pet Echiboo. After being evicted, the 2 are in search to find a new place to live and they happen to notice a flyer for "Aoi House" which is a place to view anime and manga. Alex and Sandy rush to join the house, only to find out there are 4 girls living there and they are all fans of Yayoi. As Sandy and Alex were about to be thrown out by head resident Elle, the two are spared and together with Maria are now living under the same roof, though both Alex and Sandy must suffer through watching Yayoi as it is a requirement of being a Aoi House resident.
Review: As an OEL, this does a fine job incorporating both cultures, Japanese and American. A lot of the parodies come from both cultures and the manga shines with the use of these parodies. The comic scenes come in the form of Sandy and Alex (with their perverted pet hamster Echiboo) having to deal with the girls as they are constantly bombarding them with crazy ideas and schemes (such as installing a hidden camera on Echiboo to spy on the girls locker room and Elle). As a harem manga, it does it's job as well, with a lot of fanservice shots as well as romantic moments to follow. Character development is perhaps the weakest as not much is revealed about all of the characters. The manga does a fine job however in creating humor and moving forward with the series. Recommended to fans of harem and who are into otaku fandom.
