Synopsis: Kanna is an manga series by Takeru Kirshima. 4 volumes in total. The series is categorized as supernatural, comedy, historical and romantic manga. Volume 1-3 were used for this review.
Summary: One day as Sagaki is dreaming, he sees a girl in the dream and after he wakes up, the same girl he saw in his sleep is sleeping right next to him. It turns out that she (Kanna) is actually Sagaki's daughter, though not from the world he is currently living, but from a different dimension. Kanna cannot speak to Sagaki, but can understand the language and gets easily jealous when Sagaki gets attention from any girls since she wants him to be faithful to her mother. Sagaki decides to take care of Kanna as the two must venture out to avoid danger from the evil Black God.
Review: Being a short manga series, Kanna feels a bit rushed when it comes to the story and at the same time not a whole lot is revealed, but that doesn't mean the manga doesn't work as there is still a good enough material for both character development and story advancement. The first 2 volumes are dedicated to Sagaki trying to figure out who Kanna is and his purpose for her, while the 3rd volume shifts to Kanna's world and the battle between the Black God. The manga has plenty of humor and it works well. At the same time, there are serious scenes/moments that are equally done effectively. The art is done quite well and the characters themselves are detailed, though the same design is used more than once for some characters. In all, as a short series, it is quite good considering the amount of information contained within the volumes are enough to make the story work.
