Summary: Negi Springfield is 10 years old and has just finished graduating from the Magic Academy. His final task (before he becomes a fully recognized Mage) is to teach English at the Mahora Academy. Little does he know the class he is going to take has 31 girls and being a 10 year old does not help as he cannot relate to them and he is constantly harassed by his own students. At the same time, he is searching for his father who has gone missing for several years. He wants to meet him, but to become like him as well. With his hands full, he must find a way to balance things out being a teacher as well as finding time to search for his father. Along the way, he will befriend many of his students as well as building relationships with them as well as. In addition, many opponents stand in his way as he draws closer to finding the whereabouts of his father.
Review: Negima is Ken Akamatsu's next harem manga and it shows as there are many scenes with fanservice. Almost every volume is filled with loads of fanservice shots and to fans of ecchi, you won't be disappointed. The story is fairly simple with Negi trying to earn his title as Mage by completing his task of teaching at Mahora Academy, in addition to finding out where his father is. The manga is also a shonen due to the nature of battles and training that takes place within the manga. There are moments of romance present as Negi is constantly involved with his students. Character development is done well for the main characters (with the exception of one). However, due to the many characters in the series, it is quite difficult to remember each character and their specific role within the manga. With so many names, it is quite easy to forget some character names. Other gripes include the numerous amount of fanservice displayed in each volume. Even with all these short comings, the manga is easy to follow and quite enjoyable to read. There are many funny moments that will have you laughing and some serious issues that will leave you in suspense for more. In all, a great series for those who are fans of harem, romance and comedy.
