Default The '' new'' Generation 07-16-2010, 05:28 PM

Now, this thread may look stypid to me in the morning , just came back from the city and im super tired (lolrandomopening)
Now, i have had this thing carving my mind since i had a very deep conversation with my dad, now he is a guy who does.. pretty much everything, he can build houses and can basically do everything that contains repairing houses and such. We got into a discussion how the world has changed since he was young and now, how alot of the good crafting / Hand skills have been just.. forgotten for example a bit before people could make cement from the .. cement powder thingy and sand without their tools and stuff . and we talked how this world is turning into much more computer based and less work based . i had a horrible vision
I can imagine the current generation thats about.. 8-12 years old at the moment, with all your Xbox360 kids spending all their day playing.. i dont even want to THINK how this society will be when the old people are dead and all is left is... this computer generation.. ( Now , i dont want to sound like bashing people,i myself spend alot time on the computer, but i belive in doing things physically, I go hunting, play floorball do random sports and hang out with friends) But id like to hear your opinions on this matter. thank you and sorry if the text is bad, ill try to fix it in the morning if its bad, not too sober at the moment.

Sugisaki Ken said...

"You hear the phrase "young people these days" often, but I'm not so sure about it. What if the young generation is getting worse and worse over time? Wouldn't that make the pinnacle of humanity Adam and Eve? Wait... An even more original entity would be... God himself. Praise to God. Believe God. Then the road to salvation shall open. God is the-"

Okay, that was a joke. But seriously, so what if people spend more in front of comps/games etc? Just because you (or whoever it is, this isn't meant to be personal) believe it's better to do things physically (or in whatever way it is) doesn't mean that is the better way of doing things. And even if people do become worse over time, so what? There are bound to be some people who realize how bad things are and attempt change. Humans are not that foolish. At least that's what I like to think.

Then again, if humans are really that foolish, so what? It's only just to be punished by your own foolishness right?

I don't think that doing physical things will actually be replaced by electronic games as the world moves along. Even if it's 2010, 2014, 2018, or any other time in the future, sports will always be there. And interest will be there too. The World Cup being a prime example. Even with all the tech, millions of people are still watching it, and little kids try to emulate their idols on the pitch. Physical activities is in our blood, like it or not. We would always want to do some things with our own bare hands, which is in my opinion why the e-book concept thing is not catching up, we love holding a physical book too much.

Oh my. I don't see it as offensive in any way tbh. And imo there's nothing wrong about "taking it too seriously". I find it admirable, even. Well, the world advances precisely because of some nerds taking too seriously issues that to the common mass are pointless, or nerdish at best. Curiosity is good. ^_^

Oh, I assure you, I wasn't offended or anything, you do have a vaild point, and it's good that some people are actually worried about the trend. It's just that in my opinion, sports will always appeal to mankind, that's just how we can maintain our competitive streak.

Thanks for all your anserws, i am unfortunately a person who likes to thrust stuff here what makes no sense, and may seem idiotic to other people.
I just had this.. stypid idea the other day.. ( Now myself, i arent christian or anything) But what if.. technology is some kind of a test. now therse a lot talk about the bible that seems to refer to technology. in a sense that technology will continue to advance, and someone out there sees if we start using it instead of doing stuff ourselfs. and then will just.. fail all technology and well live forward without technology.
(stypid idea right?)
A personal prefrence of my would be to.. keep on enhanching technology that actually helps stuff like.. the climate change etc. and stop advancing stuff that .. makes our lifes easier. now gadgets are okay and stuff. but what ive watched documents and seen. alot of people are racing on inventing like.. houses that wake you up automatically and brush your teeths for you etc. and taking away cars and replacing them with something really stypid that i cant even remember, id prefer peole to stop advancing that, and focus more on the .. Needed technology
(Sorry if this rant seemed stypid, sometimes i guess you just need to let your ideas and stuff out somewhere)

yes. to think that nowadays, techonlogies become more improved because of the "previous" generation that works hard without any technologies
now is the new generation, which already been pleased by all of the techonologies that our previous generation made. I wonder what will happen to the future generation

am I out of topic?

i think there are a good number of people who understand that new technology is good, but there is also importance to older ways of doing things. heck, i have gone out of my way to work construction and other odd jobs just to learn new practical skills. my chosen profession is art-related, and not even close to being physically demanding. if you start feeling like everybody is the same way, try taking a step outside of your normal boundaries for a bit and im sure you will see that things are much more diverse than you may think.
