i haven't got a PS 3, but seeing as how i got ps1 and ps2 before, why not?

the question is, is mgs4 that worth it to get ps3? i know most will say yes and some other console fans might say no, but that's not the point, coz if we're talking about fanboyz i like FF rpg series and will come out in PS3. what im asking is whether or not i should get it this year to play MGS 4 or next year and risk missing out on MGS4 but cheaper console price then, along with FF RPG games?

please just stick to whether or not ps3 should be bought for mgs4

i say it directly, i bought ps3(on day of release) cos of mgs4 and there werent any decent games i liked that time so i kept buying ps2 titles (the classic ones like ffx and stuff)(and btw now there r a bunch of awesome games worth buying), and when the mgs4 came out i was really happy after about 4 days i finished the game and i got a nice satisfactory experience . i finished it 7 more times for emblems and stuff. and now its still lying in the corner collecting dust.
but regreting buying ps3.... ....never regreted and never will. mostly i use ps3 as a media player i just download movies and anime from net set it on my 500 gig extern harddisk and whatch it from my ps3.
So i would not recomend buying it only for 1 game (there r more games available now for ps3 so dont wase it only on one game) (omg i cant belivethat I metal gear fan boy said it)

so to make long story short buy it if u plan on buying other games.

Buying a system, especially one thats 500 dollars for one game is never a good investment. My advice check out other games and if you see other games you like go for it.

I think you should go for the cheaper console prices. That's what I'm going to do anyways. And if you wait for a while they might already have released the extended version of mgs4 like they did on 2 and 3. Not that it really matters but still :P. Besides the new FF games are released sometime next year so I think it'd be smarter to buy the console near their release date

Funny thing is i also bought it on the day when MG4 bundle came out =P but MG4 is awesome sequel to the series and no other games can match it right now especially the graphics......
Anyway, there is some pretty good games coming out this year like fallout 3, Dead space, Fear 2 is coming out soon , and maybe Endwar.

I really wouldnt get the PS3 just for mg4 i would actually rather get a 360 ( thinking about trading in my PS3 for a 360). FF and tekken r no longer PS exclusive have been said that they will come out for the 360 and plus i wanna play the tales game on it...>.<. Overall i think that the PS3 barely has anymore exclusives anymore. But mg4 is an amazing game if u like cut scenes theres alot and they r LONG. i think there was an hour cut scene in the beginning.

MGS4 is a must buy. Holy crap. It's too good! but the online might piss you off (at least for me it did)

I bought a PS3 not too long ago, and i bought it mainly for MGS4 (i think it's the only game right now that has my interest. not to mention i'm a fan of MGS).
Personally, i think it's totally worth it. Not for the online mode (i'm a lousy player XD) but just for the single player mode.
Well, if i were you i'd at least look if there are other games you're interested in and if it's worth it. I bought the PS3 because of MGS4, but also because FFXIII (and versus XIII), KH3 and more RPGs that are going to appear later on. I don't have much time, so for me those games are probably enough.
So if you're a person who likes to game much, look at the other titles too. MGS4 isn't a very long game, and if it's the only game you're going to play then buying a console just for a game seems like a bit of a waste.

I would have to agree and say that even though it's a expensive investment, it was such a great game that it made buying the system worth it. Now they are coming out with more games that rock so I'm in a win-win situation here.

every MGS is just........strange after u get past a certain point in the game.
but none the less, u HAVE to play these games.
and MGS 4 explains a lot
