So, don't know why there isn't a topic for this yet, cause it's pretty much been the most (over)hyped games of all time. My opinion? Total let down. Some described it as "a pool a hundred miles wide and two inches deep." and think that sums it up nicely. It gives you a ridiculous amount of customization at certain points (designing creatures, buildings, vehicles, etc.) but gameplay is CRIPPLINGLY limited. no matter which of the three (only three!) personality types you choose at any phase, the game is almost exactly the same, and when you get to space, the wonder of a huge universe is quickly overshadowed by the repetetiveness of hundreds of identical planets, one after another. further taking into account the fact that the game came prepackaged with EA-Spyware makes spore one of the biggest mistakes i've made in purchasing games.

muhahahah i've got to agree with u! Spore was a total let down for me too... expecially the HUGE galaxy that u need to explore! plus the galaxy gameplay is way too limited with only 1 spaceship.... you cant do anything unless you dont live in a zone of the universe with nobody!

1st 3 stages were pretty fun as u get to be pretty involved with ur own character

after that it gets totally diluted and dry.

Personally I think Spore is a great achievement and all that but I just don't find it that fun to play. There are multiple diffrent play styles as you go through the stages but none of them are really all that perfected so it ends up just seeming like a mish mash that has a great creature maker thing. All and all I was a bit disappointed from the game but I wasen't expecting it to blow me away like everyone else.

i agree that u should have been able to build more ships in game, but saying u cant do anything is strange, cos as i remeber there plenty of things to do when u reach this stage
this where the game complete opens up, that means that its now up to player to continue advancing the game.

when you say there nothing to do you either ignored everything or you are now completely lost as to next, at this point the game now leaves everything up the player it no longer tells you what to do.

in space stage in turns into like one of those sandbox space Civ games, some people have a hard time at playing these types of games cos they need someone to hold their hand and tell them what to do next

IF EA play their cards right they may gets things right in a possible future expansion to the game (if one does come).

I have the galactic version of the game, honestly i was expecting the game be a little better than it is.

i thought about playing it but i heard about how it was wide experience and not very deep so i decieded to give it a miss but i played the character creating and that was pretty deep and cool

I downloaded this game, but I lack time to play.

I heard that this game is to be played only once for being too large. Is this true?

After going through the stages once, I really had no interest in repeating them.
Even with a different character build, it was just the same exact thing, but with a different look.
Mostly though, I was mad that I spent so long making the ultimate creature in the creature stage, only for all my customizations not to matter in the tribal stage.
That was what pretty much killed it for me...<_<

this game has like 7 billion star systems and each time you start a new games its different

and it does indeed takes a long time to play, it for people who has a lot of time to waste

I agree, total let down. The game play is very shallow and repetitive. "Conquer all the tribes"... "Conquer all the cities" I didn't even buy the game, it wasnt worth it.
