Default Sega Dreamcast Anniversary

It seems a little morbid to talk about a nice anniversary on 9/11 (and I do pray for the victims), but on Tuesday the anniversary of the DC's launch passed.

What are your thoughts on the classic, unfortunate console? Mine's that it was very good, particularly for pixel-perfect arcade ports (often better than PS2 ports). Capcom vs SNK 2, King of Fighters 98, Soul Calibur, they were all good. Plus, once you get used to it, the controller's d-pad is great (though still not the same as an arcade stick).

I haven't played it yet, but Skies of Arcadia is supposed to be great, and I love Ikaruga. Then there's Shenmue...

Actually, I've played it a fair bit over a friend's house, and just ordered my first one.

you are playing the wrong marvel game. Its all about marvel vs capcom2. I used to play my dc til they finally released marvel vs capcom2 for ps2 after like 3 years. I also remember my late grade school years playing with my VMC (video memory card) niffy lil thing and not and big and obvious as a game boy of this era.

O really? Heh, let's get the fighting game wars going on here lol.
First, they're both Capcom games, not Marvel games, and while I do enjoy MvC2, I do enjoy CvS2 more (although, actually I really enjoy King of Fighters the best out of fighting games). Not to mention that since MvC2 is a pretty "light" fighting game compared to some, it's not really played in tournaments anymore, at least not as much as CvS2, or Street Fighter III, or various others.
I like the game, it's just I find it to be more of a party game than a serious fighter (like SSB).

BTW, it's VMU (Virtual Memory Unit), not VMC.

Anyhow, anyone played Powerstone, or Powerstone 2? Quite fun, though not really deep. Kinda like Smash Bros., before Melee (N64 one was alright, but not really great).
And, of course... dun dun duuun...

Bust-a-Move 4!!! If you like puzzle games, this is awesome! (though I admit, Tetris is probably just as addicting). Once you get past the cutesy look (it is a Japanese game, after all), it's good fun.

Mine is still in good condition. I occasionally bust it out to play games like MvC2 and the Capcom vs SNK ones. The DC really didn't deserve the ignominious death it had.

I wasn't really into fighting games the only one i enjoyed were mvsc2. . Sega realized they couldn't compete with nintendo and sony and dropped the dreamcast. But they mainly dropped teh hardware because of internal conflicts (Sega of Amercia and Sega of Japan). The Fact is after the genesis they were losing money hardcore. they are now game a software dev and dropped hardware altogether.

Of course, if we're going into reasons for the DC's demise, let's not all forget Shenmue...

I must say Sega Dreamcast was one of the best console even though it didn't last long because i had one too but i sold it to my cousin since i feel that Playstation would eventually be better and it had MGS . Marvel vs. Capcom was also one of the best games for sega Dreamcast that i played.

I'm late but I wanted to say that Dreamcast was released on 9/9/99, not 9/11/99. Now that the nitpick is out of the way, wanted to say Dreamcast is a great system. Some of my favorite games include Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Bangai-O, and Phantasy Star Online. Lots of other good games too though.

i knew that the 9/11/99 date wasn't quite right. It would be awesome if sega was secretly working on a new console to succeed the dreamcast and they would release it on 9/9/09

Yeah, it's sad. I've mostly used my ps2 since Dreamcast went down. It's annoying having to buy more consoles to get sega's games.
