Default Persona 3

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3

Publisher: Atlus

Platform: PlayStation 2
Release Date: (NA)08/14/07
Mode: Single Player
Genre: Console RPG

Plot: A modern town in Japan, experiences an event called the "Dark Hour". The "Dark Hour" is a time period within midnight when the building Tartarus rises. Tartarus is a very large sky scraper like building that contains shadows, beings that are the aftermath of human malignant thoughts. Which causes a group of people to become afflicted to apathy syndrome. A group of high school kids awaken "Personas" which are alter-egos of the user. The group realises that a shadow different from others reveals itself outside of Tartarus on the night of a full moon. Will defeating these shadows put an end to Tartarus and the dark hour?

Gameplay: Gameplay is a simulation with RPG elements, consisting of over 70 hours of gameplay, during the day you will be living your high school life or enjoying your holiday building what's called a social link (relationship) and/or increasing your academics, courage, and charm. At night you can decide to go to Tartarus or stay at home and take a break. At Tartarus you will be roaming the floors each day the floors will change, causing the overall structure to be different each day. You will always encounter shadows so most of your time in Tartarus will be in Battle. The battle system is a turn-based system, with features such as "All out attack and one more!" That can be used to your advantage or disadvantage.

Gameplay Rating: 4/5

Graphics: The graphics are mediocre, coming from the fact that it's on the PS2. There are no facial expressions, the floors look the same for a while, cutscenes are done by anime clips. Which is good in a way. They could work on doing some actual facial expressions and put some more time into making these, but the game itself is very large, so I guess it's fine.

Graphics Rating: 3/5

Music: The music is great, composed by Shoji Meguro, giving the game a modern hip hop feeling with English lyrics so you can understand. You could listen to the soundtrack all day and not get bored of it. The music can either pump you up for a boss fight, or just help you sail across your gameplay. It's just that cool.

Music Rating: 5/5!

Statement: The game is overall win. I mean who doesn't think putting a gun to your head is cool? This game is very fun and you could go with a second gameplay without any doubts. It doesn't get old, let alone you won't beat it in a single day for sure.

Overall Rating: 4/5

Author's note: I'm not very thorough on this review, so if you want a complete in-depth thought, then you're going to have to buy the game.

It's a nice game from Shin Megami Tensei series. There are P3 : FES in English version now. There are addition of and changes in the skill of the persona.Plus with the persona compendium, you can summon persona from the previous playthrough that you have obtain and fuse with a little price though. It's quite easy to get to lvl99(max) with hp and sp max at 999.

Persona 3 has one of the best ending in JRPG. Main Character kick ass. Feel the power of the Universe!!!

Basically true if you didn't analyse the enemy first but when you know it's arcana it's easier to know it's tactics, skills and even weakness. Each arcana can be recognised by it's mask.

To be honest, I don't like the battle system, or the tower a whole lot. (Of course, I have yet to beat the game.)

My favorite parts of the game seem to take place during character interaction. I love how this game made so many of the character human like. (By that I mean, you can actually connect to the character. The emotions feel realistic, not unreal and stupid like most cliche RPG heroes and what not.)

persona 3 wasnt known for its battle system, it isnt very good as we already know, its a common turn system, only that your allies dont follow your orders and the AI Stinks, it was known exactly for the Social Links xD

The Next Persona, persona 4,had a way better battle system, similar to this one's but the AI improved and this time you can actually issue orders to your allies, the social links also present :P

It is not like the AI is that bad though, the major thing that sticks out at you is when they don't use spells that can knock down an enemy to get an extra attack and use normal attacks because the enemy is weakened. But alot of the AI problems can be solved by just setting the strategy for them.

Well then don't say it's the 3rd best game ever then.
Find what you truly believe are good games first. then rate them.

I have tons of favorites, and despite how much I like P3, I doubt it even reaches my top 10. (And I REALLY like P3!!!!)

unique game with a lot of monster to get. also have a dating game that i think to easy to do for a visual novel maniac(like me). the cons is after playing for a lot of hour the battle seem repetitive enough. the gameplay is long enough for a RPG kind game
