Which one should i go for the 40GBs or 80GBs?

hmm...if i were you, i'd try to find the discontinued 60gb because it's the only one with hardware emulation for backwards compatibility...

I wouldn't, since that sucker heats up, unlike the newer versions with the smaller chip (unless you really care about backwards compatibility)

well, the ps3 doesn't have much games for it yet, and a lot of ps2 games are epic ^^ but that's just me

No offense or anything but isn't this a silly question?
Assuming you have loads of money, isn't it obvious that you'll go for the 80GB one?

However, here's something sneaky. I assume both the 40 and 80GB models are the same, so you could buy the 40GB one and buy a 100GB or more laptop hard-drive. Laptop hard-drives can fit into a PS3, however, I haven't done much research on this, I'm merely repeating what a friend told me. :3

nope 80 gb version can run more ps2 games

I'd go for the 80, though am waiting probably until november or december to see if anything better (a good bundle maybe) comes out.

if you're just looking for space, get an external HD and plug the USB in the PS3, it works XD
