Russia is trying to get a bite of Georgia.
That was inevitable, I'd say. After all s**t exchange between Russia and Georgia, a conflict was bound to happen.

I honestly don't know what separatists were thinking of, but I'm 66% sure that they were supported by Russia.

Now what'll follow

a) 55% chance that Russia will eat South Ossetia
b) 33% chance that Russia will eat whole Georgia
c) 11% chance that the conflict will be solved with the help of the big stain from the west.
d) 1% chance that countries will make a peaceful agreement without help.

Enough said. Poor Georgians...

I would acually think that this ends with South Ossetia ending up a part of Russia... even more now that Georgia has taken their troops out of South Ossetia....

If they would not have fallen back or outrightly attacked the russians they probably would have been wiped in a matter of minutes once the red army arrives.

I rather think russia will break georgia alot but in the end not annect it, and make ossetia independant ( on paper )

If you trace it deeper... then you might find something interesting.

Well.. here is what I found.

South Ossetia is bound to Georgia because of Soviet Union regional framework division.

I called this a failure in planning the framework... in truth South Ossetia is closer (in ethnic, culture and people) with North Ossetia (in Russia now).

After the Soviet crumbles... South Ossetia tries many times to unite with North Ossetia... in short becoming a part of Russia. Well, Georgia is opposing this... why? simple... Natural resources... it is a monetary issue. This eventually escalates into internal wars between South Ossetia and Georgia. Most of Ossetians are Russian people (with Russian passport too)...

Georgia recently asks to join NATO for backups and security. Ossetians feels more threatened and unleashes a new war. Russia that is threatened by NATO expansions... decides to dig in.

If a referendum is called in both Abhkazia and Ossetia... I am pretty sure that they will join Russia in the end.

well, today there was alot of news about Georgia in the News Programs in Holland... today a dutch cameraman from the tv channel RTL died in a russian bombardment, the news reporter that was with him got injured in his leg but was still able to move but went into shock after seeing the dead cameraman...

so yea, all tv channels in Holland are sad now... and that's not all what happened today... there was another news reporter that works for a newspaper that was driving towards the city where it happened soon after in a car, but he got attacked by 2 russian helicopters that started shooting the car, the news reporter survived by stopping the car next to the road and jumping into the bushes...

so yea, WELL DONE RUSSIA, you just got Holland p!ssed off xD

well, you know how people are, they really don't give a sh!t untill it comes too close to them...

like for instance my mom, a guy gets shot to death in Holland during the day, she's all like "ooh my, how sad for him, how did it ever happen" but when I tell her that things like this happen daily all over the world she's like "ooh" xD

I'm just the same with everything, I don't really care much about it...
the world is f*cked up, nothing new...

I think that's good, since this could have easily dominoed into something much, much larger.

Given the possibilities I can't beleive how little attention was actually paid to this conflict.

Well... sensei had a point about not caring. I myself got plenty of things to worry about instead of some war going on in a distant place.

I am concerned and curious... but not as far as thinking about it every night before I go to bed.

Ah well... I am interested in how the UN will handle this.

Great, thats all we need is to get pulled into another conflict. Like US forces aren't spread thin enough as it is. The only reason i say that is because I have heard that Georgia is a US backed country.

Not to change the subject or anything, but when i first heard about this a work I thought Russia was attacking the state of Georgia

I had know idea there was a country named that, and I have studied world history. I am not stupid just ignorant.

A cease-fire agreement has been signed from both sides, so this should end the conflict, for now.
