im sure we all have different opinions on what we like to watch
but what makes certain anime so great?
for me in an anime i prefer
an episode range from 13-50
tho there are other longer animes i like too (ex:d grayman, hitman reborn)
a good storyline is essential but the ending of the anime (tho its very sad) has to be memorable
the action not soo much but its the intensity of each the fight
and lastly good characterization be it a villain or hero
what do you guys think?

For me it's mostly down to the story and the characters, although everything else (music, graphics ect) must be reasonable inorder for the Anime to be good................

imo, plot and story line are the most important thing. for the length i think 12-26 episodes would be just right, cuz if it more than that i can't bother download them all ^^". anykind of art work(character design etc.) are fine for me work as long as it's not ugly ^^"

don't really care about the episode range.. the plot, the graphics.. i really like the code geass graphics and that's about it...

A good story with character development.
A short story (13-30 episodes), because all good things must come to an end (and not leave us begging for more only to wind up with crap).
A little something to relate to is a plus.
Humor will also help warm me over.
All-in-all though, I don't ever search for the "perfect" anime, nor do I know what would be described as a perfect anime. We all have our own tastes. Some like animes like DBZ (so flippin' long, with long dragged out fight scenes) while others like me like comedies (Azumanga Diaoh, Excel Saga).

It's all about tastes.

I think a series about 26 episodes is of the right lenght. The story must evolve along the series obviously and the characters must have depth. I also prefere series from within the last ten or fifteen years as I think the graphics from beyond that line are bad.

I've also come to think that the end is VERY important for the series. It has to be an ending, not the kind of thing that leaves you hanging and wondering what happens next. I've watched many awesome series that have been ruined by an unfulfilling end. This of course goes only for the series that don't have sequels

decent plot and animation. as long as the storyline moves at a reasonable pace I don't mind 13 episode anime. I also like a true ending, or one that doens't raise too many questions, I want all my questioned answered by the end of th anime or at least an OVA to wrap everything up.

I don't mind the season thing 00 and geass did, it gives the writers more time to write up a good plot so we don't have to deal with too many WTF moments or clip episodes

but sometimes the producers and creators need some time

i just move on to another anime until it is aired

Find my taste in music first... usually leads me to the right category.

Must not contain yaoi or yuri... for my health reasons...

Must have new ideas... I get bored easily... especially if I can predict the development or the final ending from the early episodes...

Ah... those animes that derived from hentai game are quite watchable too... even though you will probably get furious at the heroine chosen there... (ex: Fate Stay Night in my case)
