The promotional sleeve wrapper on the 16th volume of Kazuma Kamachi's To Aru Majutsu no Index (A Certain Magic Index) light novels has announced that a television anime adaptation has been green-lit. The story is set in a world where supernatural powers exist through science, and magic exists through religion.

In the story, Tōma Kamijō is an ordinary high school boy with terrible academic scores and a power called Imagine Breaker. Imagine Breaker can defeat any other power, but it also undermines Kamijō's own good luck. His Imagine Breaker's immense strength is literally immeasurable, so hapless Kamijō is listed at the supernatural level of 0. He happens to meet a girl in white hanging off his window balcony. The girl says she is being chased by sorcerers, and Kamijō learns that the girl is a Church of England nun whose memories have been forcibly replaced by Index-Librorum-Prohibitorum — the 103,000 forbidden texts of the Church.

The publisher MediaWorks launched the series in 2004 as Kamachi's debut work with illustrator Kiyotaka Haimura. The story has already been adapted into a manga by Chūya Kogino in Square Enix's Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine. There is also a spinoff manga called To Aru Kagaku no Railgun (A Certain Scientific Railgun) by Motoi Fuyukawa in MediaWorks' Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine.

i've seen the trailer. quite good quality of animation. too bad i kinda get the impression of Ueki from the characters. but the battle scene is well-made. as expected from J.C. staff. but who knows?

The anime is really slow paced.............

I'd say White Album is slower, this anime is great.

now, we have the epic battle of Kamijyo faction. >_>

this is a good anime though the title says index but index seems to be left out from the 1st few episodes

The story is divided in arcs, so some arc are going to be more interesting than other.

I am just rooting for Biribiri-Mikoto, Index is fine, but I like railgun girl better.

The main character was actually likable,and show some backbone.

I think the series had a good balance between fights and humor/story developments, and the ability are interesting and how Touma overcome it always grabs my attention.

but strangely enough, I always thought the focus was supposed to be on Index. Now, we are talking about Kamjiyo faction.
and, I thought biribiri=shocker, >_> oh well. I also like shocker more than Index, but for some reason Accelerator=win to me. and the Vamp hunter girl became invisble -.-

I agree, they seem to have just fallen off the edge of the world. Waiting to see if they come back any time soon.

the anime isn't bad. i started reading the manga first, but some parts didn't quit make sense until i watched it play out in motion. if that makes sense.

The vamp girl unforunately become just one of many victims (the number is still on the rising) of Touma's harem.

It's quite hilarious really.

Well Misaka seems to be the most popular character.I prefer her as well.And why is the story not focusing on Index?Well as far as i know the light novel (which the anime is based on) was originally one-about a certain magical Index.Later when the novel became popular the author decided to write more and itroduced all the other character but he developed the story and Index became just a part of it,it wasn't focused on her anymore(unlike the first novel-the index arc basically)The title however remained.Well i'm not sure about all that it's what i've heard.^^
Anyways i like the story it's really entertaining and fun to watch.Great setting,great soundtrack,cool chracters.Certainly something to look forward.

The spesial misaka , misaka imoto ....how kawaii, so but why she has to be on 3 episode only. By the way, do u all find this anime kind of wierd , likes Its is note folloing anime format.
But still a verry good anime to watc.

Hmm one episode left eh?It was a good show.Lots of funny moments and action packed scenes.The story and setting are really enjoyable as well.
And i just read that they'll make a spinoff anime based on To Aru Kagaku Choudenjihou~so cool we get to see Misaka's story.Still details about it are unknown,never the less IMO it would be even better than Index.
